Rep. Roy underscored urgent issues related to the porous border, such as migrant deaths and allegations of sex trafficking and child trafficking by Mexican cartels. He criticized the governance in the name of false compassion and appealed to Republicans to take decisive action in securing the border.

Rep. Roy asserted that solutions like the “Gang of 8,” a 2013 bipartisan immigration reform plan, are no longer viable. Instead, he highlighted Republicans’ latest immigration reform measure, H.R. 2 — the Secure the Border Act introduced by Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, which passed the House but awaits Senate action.
